About the Project!
Covering Our Community is a Leadership Forsyth Class of 2026 service project dedicated to supporting the Hightower Baptist Association Food & Clothing Bank—a place that serves hundreds of Forsyth County families each month with care and compassion.
Our goal is simple yet meaningful: to build a 115’ x 16’ covered lean-to structure alongside the existing building, creating a safer, more welcoming experience for everyone who visits. This new space will:
Provide weather protection to keep patrons, volunteers, and donations safe and comfortable year-round.
Improve operational efficiency by giving staff and volunteers room to organize and distribute food and clothing more effectively.
Create a dignified waiting area, offering seating and shelter for individuals and families who often stand outside in heat, cold, or rain.
Deliver a durable, low-maintenance solution that supports the long-term mission of serving our community with compassion.
Depending on available resources, we also hope to refresh the interior of the facility, updating spaces to reflect the same sense of dignity, warmth, and respect that this community deserves.
More than a construction project, Covering Our Community is about people: neighbors helping neighbors, leaders choosing to serve, and a team coming together to make lasting change.
Together, we’re not just building a structure—we’re building hope, comfort, and community. Joins us!
